Media Tags are short labels you attach to images, such as Hero, Product or Autumn. They keep your library organized without folders and without moving any file.
Tags are part of CICO Media Pro.
Why tags instead of folders
- Files never move. Image URLs stay the same, so nothing on your site breaks.
- One image, many tags. A photo can be Travel and Hero at the same time, which a folder cannot do.
- Always visible. Tags appear on the cards and can be filtered in one click.
CICO Media stores tags in its own non-public attachment taxonomy. It does not replace or change folders, categories or taxonomies created by other media plugins.
Create a tag
Go to Media → CICO Media → Tags.
- Type a short name in Create a tag (for example Hero, Product, Lifestyle).
- Click Create tag.
The top of the tab shows the number of Tags, the Tag assignments and Files moved (always 0: tags never move files).
Assign tags to one image
- In the Media Library click the i button of an image to open Quick Info, or click the image to open the attachment details.
- In Media Tags type in Search or add a tag….
- Pick an existing tag from the list, or type a new name and choose + Create tag “name” to create it on the spot.
Remove a tag from an image with the × on the tag.
Tag many images at once
- In the CICO Filters bar click Select multiple.
- Click the images you want. A bar at the bottom shows how many are selected.
- Click Add tags (or Remove tags). A panel titled Add tags to selected media opens: search or pick the tags (you can also create a new one) and apply.
- Use Clear selection to start again, or Close selection to leave the selection mode.
Find tagged images
Open the All tags menu in the CICO Filters bar. It lists your tags with the number of images in each one. Choose a tag to see only those images. You can combine it with other filters. See Smart Filters.
Rename or delete a tag
In Media → CICO Media → Tags click Manage next to a tag. You can rename it or delete it. Deleting a tag only removes the label: your media files stay untouched.
Keep or delete tags when Pro is uninstalled
By default, deleting the CICO Media Pro plugin keeps your tags, so you can reinstall Pro later without losing your organization. If you want a complete cleanup, enable Delete Media Tags when CICO Media Pro is uninstalled in Media → CICO Media → Settings before you delete the plugin. See Privacy and data.
