1. Who is responsible
The controller of the personal data described in this policy is Digimatica Sagl, Via G. Corti 5, 6828 Balerna (Canton Ticino), Switzerland, company number (UID) CHE-486.451.410 ("we", "us").
You can contact us about privacy at info@cicomediawp.com.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers the website cicomediawp.com, the contact we have with you by email, and the purchase of CICO Media Pro through our reseller. It also explains what the CICO Media plugin does with data on your own WordPress site.
We process personal data in line with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
3. What data we process, why and on what basis
Messages you send us (for example to info@cicomediawp.com): your name, email address and the content of your message. We use them to answer you and give support. Basis: performing a contract or steps before a contract, or our legitimate interest in answering requests.
Technical access data: when you visit the website, our web server may record your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and basic browser information. We use them to keep the site secure and working. Basis: our legitimate interest in the security and stability of the website.
Order and license data: when you buy CICO Media Pro, the order is handled by Freemius (see below). We receive the information we need to provide your license, updates and support, such as your name, email address, country and license status. Basis: performing the contract.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
This website sets no cookie of its own and uses no advertising cookies. Nothing is stored in your browser by default.
When you click a purchase button, the checkout of our reseller opens in a window on top of this page. Its script is loaded from checkout.freemius.com only at that moment, and the checkout and its payment providers may set cookies or similar technologies that are needed to process the payment and prevent fraud. Their own policies apply.
With your consent only, we use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, to understand how the website is used and to measure downloads, purchase clicks and purchases. They set the cookies _ga and _ga_* and process your IP address and usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device). They run only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time from "Cookie preferences" in the footer. Legal basis: consent. Data may be transferred to the United States under the safeguards described in Google's terms. More detail is in our Cookie Policy.
5. Purchases, payments and licenses
Orders for CICO Media Pro are handled by Freemius, our official reseller (Merchant of Record). Freemius runs the checkout, takes the payment, handles VAT, issues invoices and manages licenses and customer accounts. For these activities Freemius acts as a separate controller under its own privacy policy, which applies when you use the checkout.
We never see your full payment card details.
6. The CICO Media plugin and your data
The plugin works inside your own WordPress site. The data it handles, such as settings, Media Tags and the Pro usage index, stays in your WordPress database and is not sent to us or to other external servers. The plugin never modifies, compresses or deletes your media files.
The only external contact is Freemius, and only when you activate a Pro license or choose to take part in the opt-in features offered by the Freemius software in the plugin. In that case Freemius processes the data described in its own policy.
7. Who receives your data
We share personal data only with providers that help us run the website and the business, and only as far as needed:
our hosting provider, which runs the server of the website;
our email provider, for messages sent to and from our contact address;
Freemius, and the payment providers it uses, for orders, payments, invoices, VAT and licenses.
Public authorities, where the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
8. Transfers outside Switzerland and the EEA
Some of our providers, including Freemius and its payment providers, may process data in countries outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area, for example the United States. Where this is required, such transfers rely on an adequacy decision or on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
9. How long we keep data
Messages and support requests: for as long as needed to handle your request, and then for up to 24 months after the last contact, unless the law requires a longer period.
Technical access data: only for a short period, as set by our hosting provider, and then deleted or anonymized.
Order, invoice and license records: kept by Freemius under its own policy, and by us only as long as needed for support and as required by Swiss accounting and tax rules (generally ten years for accounting records).
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) to this website. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw any consent you gave. To exercise your rights, write to info@cicomediawp.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Switzerland this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). If you are in the EU, you can contact the authority of your country.
12. Children
This website and the plugins are intended for people who manage WordPress sites. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add a tool or a service. The date at the top shows the latest version.
