On this page

The Media Picker is the window WordPress opens when you choose a media file from somewhere else: the Featured image of a post, an Image block, a gallery, a page builder widget and so on.

CICO Media brings the same cards you see in the Media Library into this window, so you can choose the right image at the first attempt.

What you get

  • Cards in real proportions, with resolution, file size, aspect ratio and file name.
  • The i button on every card for Quick Info.
  • The Media Insights block in the sidebar for the selected image.

With CICO Media Pro the picker also gets the CICO Filters bar, the usage status on each card and the tags. See the Pro version of the picker.

How to use it

  1. In the editor open the Featured image panel and click Set featured image (or add an Image block and choose Media Library).
  2. Open the Media Library tab.
  3. Pick the image you want, check its details in the sidebar and click Set featured image.

Works with

  • The WordPress block editor (Gutenberg): featured image, Image, Gallery, Cover and other blocks.
  • Page builders that use the standard WordPress media window, such as Elementor.

Builders that use their own media manager are not touched: CICO Media only enhances the native WordPress picker.

Turn it off

Go to Media → CICO Media → Media Library → Where CICO Media appears and switch off Media Picker enhancements. The Media Library itself keeps the CICO Media cards.
