On this page
CICO Media improves the native WordPress Media Library. It does not replace it, move your files or change attachment URLs, so you can install it on a live site and remove it at any time.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.4 or higher
- PHP 7.4 or higher
- An administrator or editor account that can open Media → Library
Install from WordPress
- In your dashboard open Plugins → Add New Plugin.
- Search for CICO Media.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
You can also download the ZIP from the plugin page on WordPress.org and use Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
What you see the first time
Open Media → Library in Grid view (the square icon next to the list icon).
Every image is now shown in its real proportions (portrait, landscape or square, no more square crop), with its resolution, file size, aspect ratio and file name below it. The small i button on each card opens Quick Info.
Nothing else is needed. All the display options are on by default, and you can change them in Media → CICO Media.
Free and Pro
CICO Media (free) covers the Media Library display: real proportions, dimensions, aspect ratio, file names, Quick Info and the Media Picker.
CICO Media Pro is an optional add-on that works inside the same screens. It adds:
- Usage Intelligence: see where each image is used.
- Media Tags: organize images with tags instead of folders.
- Smart Filters: filter the library by usage, tags, orientation, size, type and source.
- Integrations: Elementor, ACF, WooCommerce, WPBakery and theme settings.
CICO Media Pro requires the free CICO Media plugin to be installed and active. If you only deactivate Pro, nothing is lost: your tags, settings and usage index stay as they are. See Privacy and data for what happens when you delete a plugin.
Next steps
- Tour the CICO Media screen.
- Learn how real proportions and card information work.
